Performance comparison of solid tires and foam filled tires

Solid tires and foam filled tires are special tires used under relatively harsh conditions. They are used in harsh environments such as mines and underground mines where tires are susceptible to punctures and cuts. Foam Filled tires are based on pneumatic tires. The interior of the tire is filled with foam rubber to achieve the purpose of persisting in use after the tire is punctured. Compared with solid tires, they still have large differences in performance:

1.Difference in vehicle stability: The deformation amount of solid tires under load is small, and the deformation amount will not fluctuate greatly due to load changes. The vehicle has good stability when walking and operating; the deformation amount under load of filled tires is much larger than that of solid tires, and the load changes When the deformation variable fluctuates significantly, the vehicle stability is worse than that of solid tires.

2. Difference in safety: Solid tires are tear-resistant, cut and puncture resistant, adaptable to various complex use environments, have no risk of tire blowout, and are highly safe; filled tires have poor cut and puncture resistance. When the outer tire is split, the inner The filling can explode, causing safety hazards to vehicles and people. For example, coal mine support vehicles use 17.5-25, 18.00-25, 18.00-33 and other tires. Filled tires are often cut and scrapped in a single journey, while solid tires do not have this hidden danger.

3. Difference in weather resistance: The all-rubber structure of solid tires makes them excellent in anti-aging properties. Especially when exposed to light and heat in outdoor environments, even if there are aging cracks on the surface, it will not affect the usability and safety; filled tires have poor weather resistance. Once aging cracks appear in the surface rubber, , very easy to crack and blow out.

4. Difference in service life: Solid tires are made of all rubber and have a thick wear-resistant layer, so they have a long service life. As long as it does not affect the passability of the vehicle, solid tires can continue to be used; filled tires are greatly affected by the environment, especially in easy-to-use vehicles. In the case of being punctured and cut, a tire blowout will cause the tire to be scrapped and greatly shorten its life. Even under normal circumstances, the rubber thickness is smaller than that of solid tires. When the ply is worn, it must be replaced, otherwise a safety accident will occur, so its normal service life is not as good as that of solid tires.
